Active Substances Subject to the Poisons Law
Introduction
Certain products are subject to the provisions of the Poisons Act 1972, the Poisons List Order 1982, the Poisons Rules 1982 and amending Orders made to these statutory instruments (copies of all these are obtainable from The UK Legislation website). These Rules include general and specific provisions for the storage and sale and supply of listed non-medicine poisons.
Poisons List
The Active Ingredients currently approved for use in the UK and included in the product searches are specified under Parts I and II of the Poisons List, as follows:
Part I (sale restricted to registered retail pharmacists)
- aluminium phosphide
- chloropicrin
- magnesium phosphide
Part II (sale restricted to registered retail pharmacists and listed sellers registered with local authority)
Notes:
- Granular formulations which do not contain more than 12% w/w of this, or a combination of similarly flagged poisons, are exempt. Back to reference of footnote 1
