Basic substances: pesticides

A basic substance is an active substance that is not placed on the market primarily as a plant protection product but which may be of value for plant protection and so does not go through the full active substance approval process.

To be approved as a basic active substance, the active substance must meet the criteria from article 23. retained Regulation (EC) 1107/2009[1] (legislation.gov.uk website)

Approved basic substances are included in the GB approvals Register[2]. For basic substances approved before EU Exit, the summary of approved uses and conditions are provided within the Review Report.
