Guidance on assessment of stereoisomers

EFSA guidance on the assessment of stereoisomers has been noted in the EU and applies in Northern Ireland in full. The guidance has also been considered for use in Great Britain and it has been adopted for use for all applications from 1st January 2024 where it is relevant with 2 limitations detailed below.

The EFSA guidance on stereoisomers has been considered for use in Great Britain and it has been adopted for use for all applications where it is relevant with 2 limitations:

  • The text makes the following statement "The residue definition will be decided using the criteria and procedure given in the Guidance on the establishment of the residue definition for dietary risk assessment (EFSA PPR Panel, 2016)." EFSA PPR Panel (2016) is not considered adopted in GB so this sentence in the guidance can be ignored
  • In the area of Environmental Fate and Behaviour some alternative approaches that can be used have been identified. These are detailed in the Environmental Fate and Behaviour Section (link below).
