1. Overview

All workers are protected under British health and safety law, whether they are working in Great Britain legally or not.

Every worker has the right to a safe workplace where any risks to their health and safety are properly controlled.

This means your employer has to protect your health, safety and welfare while you are working for them. They are legally responsible for your safety at work so you have the right to know who employs you. Where your employer’s identity is not obvious or you are not sure who it is, ask someone such as your supervisor.

There are responsibilities for both workers and employers under British health and safety law.
