Dimension saw (Panel saw)

In addition to ripping, these saws can be used in various modes including cross-cutting and grooving. It is very important, however, to use the correct blade

Grooving/re-bating
Grooving/re-bating using feather boards to prevent kickback
Smaller counter rotating scribing blade
This saw has a smaller counter rotating scribing blade (under cover plate before blade) that can be used to improve the quality of the cut by preventing "spelch". This is particularly important for formica, where splintering may be a problem.

It is important that the guard is adjusted to cover both blades when in use.

If a positive hook blade is used for cross cutting then it can pull material in and "run away" possibly causing hand contact with the blade.
