The Care Inspectorate

The Care Inspectorate[1]* regulates, inspects and supports improvement of care services in Scotland and provides public assurance on service quality. It also jointly inspects some services with other regulators, such as Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

HSE and Local Authorities in Scotland have produced a revised Liaison Agreement (PDF) [2] with the Care Inspectorate. The Agreement promotes co-ordination of investigations, where appropriate, of preventable service user deaths and serious injuries; encourages appropriate and timely sharing of information between organisations; establishes liaison arrangements and includes contact information.

* The legal name of the Care Inspectorate is 'Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland'.
