Details

The annual science review sets out how HSE’s scientists, engineers, physicians and analysts use their expertise, knowledge and capability to make a positive impact on the working world and our environment more widely.

Case studies in this review include:

  • when welding goes wrong: gathering evidence demonstrating how shortcomings of welding have contributed to high consequence incidents, and identifying priority areas to help industry improve
  • experiments testing standards to which liquid hydrogen tanks are built, providing assurance that the infrastructure used for liquid hydrogen (in aircraft and other uses) is safe
  • reducing musculoskeletal disorders: identifying the highest risk tasks and trades in construction allowing for targeted interventions to reduce musculoskeletal disorders
