How we work: Overview

HSE is organised into a number of directorates of which the largest is the Field Operations Directorate (FOD). FOD is the main 'operational arm' of HSE and includes HSE operational inspectors.

Quarries sector strategy 2012-15

Each sector strategy sets out a series of aims grouped under the goals of the HSE Strategy which, if met, would address 'what' needs to be done for each sector to improve its health and safety performance.

Quarries National Joint Advisory Committee (QNJAC)

We need to find out as much as possible about the causes of accidents and ill health, and learn from the experiences of those who work in the industry. We look carefully at the findings of inspections and incident investigations, engage with the industry, particularly through the Quarries National Joint Advisory Committee (QNJAC), and support or commission relevant research.
