This information sheet describes typical hazards associated with the use of combine harvesters. It provides guidance on minimising the risks to the operator and others during work with combines.

It is for employers, employees and the self-employed to help them comply with their duties under health and safety legislation.

This revision of AIS6 covers the key hazards and controls, followed by main issues of concern, namely blockages, safe working practices and maintenance. A new section has been added on work near overhead power lines (OHPLs), although more information on this subject is available in 'Working safely near overhead electricity power lines' AIS8[2].
