This leaflet is aimed at employers and others involved in the production and distribution of newspaper and magazine bundles and includes advice for newsagents. It includes guidance on assessing and reducing risks from manual handling of newspaper and magazine bundles and outlines the requirements of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.
It includes guidance on the task, the load, the working environment and individual capability as well as specific advice on loading vehicles, moving loads and making up orders. There is also a section aimed at newsagents.
This leaflet combines two previous publications (IACL105 and IACL106). It has removed duplication between the two leaflets and streamlined the advice they contained. Where there is existing HSE advice (eg on risk assessment) it includes links to that advice rather than repeating it in the leaflet.
The industry-agreed weight limits for bundles are no longer included in the publication because the Manual Handling Operations Regulations do not set specific weight limits, however a link is provided to industry advice.
