Addressed primarily to managers of small and medium-sized businesses but also of relevance to employees and safety representatives. The collected case studies present a variety of approaches to tackle the problem of violence at work and provide real examples of how individual businesses have reduced the risk. Grouped according to sectors, the studies cover the retail, health and welfare, security-enforcement and leisure/service industries.

Each account comprises a description of a particular business, the known risks of violence to its staff or owners, the measures taken to reduce such and further provides pertinent advice about wider measures that could have been used and, moreover, may be appropriate for other businesses. Extensively illustrated throughout.
