RR278 - Demonstration project on risk assessment of space frame platforms exposed to random wave loading
A realistic Jacket structure with varying degrees of dynamic response has been chosen to investigate the importance of accounting for all the sea states (fully probabilistic procedure) in the evaluation of response extreme values. To this end, the 100-year extremes for a few selected responses have been calculated by both the industry standard procedures (design wave and design sea state) and the fully probabilistic procedure. The results have been compared and it has been demonstrated that in the case of dynamic structures all the sea states should be accounted for in the derivation of response extreme values.
