RR158 - The development of risk reduction strategies for the prevention of dermatitis in the UK printing industry
The primary objectives of this study were: to identify a range of low cost, practicable and acceptable interventions to reduce occupational dermatitis in the UK printing industry; to carry out preliminary testing of the acceptability and efficacy of the interventions so identified on a small scale; to use the preliminary testing of the selected interventions to provide information on the variability of the outcome measures, which would aid sample size calculations for a future large scale intervention trial; to develop appropriate methodologies for the identification of intervention strategies for use in other occupational and non-occupational situations. This involved a review of the literature of preventative interventions studies in the workplace and the identification of risk reduction interventions specific to the industry through qualitative research, using a series of observational studies and focus groups.
