LPG pipework survey

Nine people died and 33 were injured after a catastrophic explosion at ICL Plastics in Glasgow[1] in 2004. The explosion was caused by corroded pipework which let to a build up of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the building's basement and caused the four-storey factory to collapse.

We need your help

HSE is dedicated to reducing the risk as far as we can to prevent a recurrence of this disaster. To do this, we need to find out more about your LPG pipework. We'll use the information you provide to prioritise a pipework replacement programme.

If you manage an LPG installation you should have received a questionnaire about your pipework from your supplier.
